Top 10 R-n-B Songs

Since R&B often has a lot of sounds similar to hip pop and rap combined into its own genre, it is no wonder that the Top 10 will have such talented artists. It is a good mix of “old school” and some of the newer artists that seem to pour out of nowhere almost every month. Among the old school talent is Mary J Blige and Janet Jackson whose upbeat songs can still blend in with the dance and club music. Janet Jackson teams up with newer rapper sensation Nelly in a smash R&B hit “Call on Me” which is a nice variety of beat and fun lyrics.

Since Rhythm & Blues originated in the 1960’s and steadily gained popularity through the years, today’s collection of songs easily make the charts. You’ll find that many of these songs have enough groove and sensation to urge the casual listener to start making their own collection and categorize them by decade since the variety is somewhat overwhelming yet refreshing at the same time.

Call On Me-Janet Jackson and Nelly

Rapper Nelly and janet Jackson with her smooth and crisp vocals make this an excellent addition to the Top 10 R&B list. This song also has a bit of dancel club vibe on a slower, quieter scale as well and could be a good slow dance hit as well. Janet’s choice to add a rapper to her long career of music was definitely a smart choice to add to the variety.

Sexy Love-Ne Yo

This is one of the better R&B songs I’ve heard from the latest talents in the recent years for the gene. Young Ne Yo has a very distinctive voice and can carry a pretty high note with his easy listening sounds of “Sexy Love.” This song has all the ingredients of another slow dance song but holds its own as a Top 10 contender as well.

Say Goodbye-Chris Brown

This song sounds like it is sung from a young boy but the lyrics alone is enough to get the teen heart throb going. Chris Brown may well have been influenced by the older generation R&B artists such as Prince and Luther Vandross but his boyish looks and positive outlook on life makes this an excellent song for easy listening and to be added to a collection of R&B hits.

Ring The Alarm-Beyonce

Beyonce’ really spiffs it up in this fresh track from her latest album B’Day. This song has a slight similarity to EnVogue from the early 1990’s which would put it into the dance R&B genre more than anything. Her upbeat rhythm in this chart smasher “Ring the Alarm” is definitely one for the Top 10 list of R&B hits and can easily be a song to dance to as well.

Get Up-Ciara featuring chamillionaire

This is another spicy dance tune that not only is played often at the clubs but it is a product from the recent movie “Step Up.” Ciara really knows how to shake a leg and this is just one of the many dance R&B hits from the soundtrack and can easily be burned to a favorite dance hit CD.

Deja Vu-Beyonce featuring Jay Z

When I first heard DejaVu, I thought of the similar beat from many of Janet Jackson’s dance club hits. Beyonce has made herself one of the hottest new divas in recent years and catchy songs like “Deja Vu” will get you tapping your toes and requesting this great hit. This song is one of many on her B’Day album which signifies her 25th Birthday.

Everytime the Beat Drop-Monica featuring Dem Franchize Boyz

Monica and her club hit “Everytime the Beat Drop” is a great song to dance to if you’re into the late night club scene. There is an adequate amount of back up vocals from Dem Franchise Boyz that you’ll want to hear more from the CD. This song and the rest of the CD is definitely among the better R&B songs and it is also considered part of the Soul genre.

Sexy Back-Justin Timberlake featuring Timbaland

This song may have a somewhat demeaning and tasteless title but luckily the lyrics are really not that bad. However, the repetitiveness of the songs beat and lyrics combined is a bit monotonous, especially for the talented Justin Timberlake. There is a good beat with this song and it could be at home in a dance club mix but it is not as entertaining and enjoyable to listen to as other songs from this artist.

Me And U-Cassie

This is one of the better dance songs in recent times by the young diva Cassie. “Me and U” is one of her many songs that not only has a great dance beat to fit the genre of R&B but her sweet and sassy voice mixes very well with the instrumentals and overall theme of the song. This is surely a Top 10 R&B hit with such a great combination of sounds.

Be Without You-Mary J Blige

Mary J Blige is among my favorite R&B artists mainly because of the slower pace that is portrayed in many of her songs. The latest R&B hit “Be Without You” has that soft sound, beautiful melody and combined with her crisp sounding vocals is a good slow dance song. It also can easily be added to a collection of ‘easy listening’ music, taking a brief and relaxing break from the faster dance songs which she also is known for.
