She’s The Man

This is a humorous and refreshing story about a love affair that turns into a “who’s who” type. The plot thickens when the young woman is disguised as a man so she can find out more about the man she is in love with. The cast of lesser-known actors may turn you away from renting it but it is nevertheless a good slap-stick comedy love story.

The Matador

You may be thinking this is another 007 flick since it shows Pierce Brosnan holding a pistol with a silhouette of a sexy woman in the background. It is actually not James Bond at all but still a suspense thriller about a business type who encounters a lonely hitman which ignites a strange relationship causing each of them to act unlike themselves. It is similar to the Lethal Weapon plot line and well worth the rental.

Failure To Launch

If you liked 40 Year Old Virgin, you’ll love this hilarious comedy about a 30-something (Mattew McConaughey) )who lives with his parents but meets a beautiful woman (Sarah Jessica Parker) and suspects they are setting him up with her so he can finally move out. This can be considered a good “first date” movie since it has all the ingredients of reality for some of us.

Edison Force

The picture on the DVD cover depicts a high-action and suspense modern war flick starring Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey. In fact it involves a journalistic approach to discover a harem of corrupt city policemen that ends up in a jury trying to find the justice and who is to blame for actions that should not have taken place. Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey alone would make this a good rental on any night of the week.

Syriana

Powerful movie with George Clooney and Matt Damon in a story about the current energy crisis and the oil industry. The plot thickens when the CIA and a missing Iran missle is involved. The movie contains a wide variety of sabotage espionage and everything else that is going on with our oil prices. After seeing Syriana, you’ll think again every time you fill the tank.

Annapolis

Interesting story about the U.S. Naval Academy and how it correlates to a young man’s will to become a boxer. This is definitely not a “boxer” movie per se but those that admired Rocky and Raging Bull will be surprised with the determination this man possesses. There’s still plenty of action and suspense not to mention an inspirational twist to boot. It also depicts the many challenges that are faced in the Military.

Basic Instinct 2

Sharon Stone is at it again and up to her old bag of tricks in this sequel to Basic Instinct. This mystery thriller also has plenty of adult scenes as indicated in the DVD cover image as she continues to be in trouble with the law and is eventually evaluated by another psychologist but the seduction game also continues.

Eight Below

Riveting must see story about a sled dog team and owner who makes the tough decision to abandon his dogs in order to survive a punishing blizzard in the Antarctic. The dogs are then left to survive on their own and endure inhospitable conditions on their journey. It is well worth watching since it is after all, a Disney tear jerker!

16 Blocks

Bruce Willis in a cop movie almost instantly means suspense and action which is an exact description of 16 Blocks. There is actually a little humor and similarity to Lethal Weapon as the police characters involved are exact opposites of each other and their different personalities make an otherwise ordinary task of escorting a fast-talking witness from police custody to a courthouse somewhat of a challenge.

Firewall

The name “Harrison Ford” alone will make movie watchers immediately think suspense thriller. Firewall is one of his most suspenseful movies since The Fugitive. Harrison plays a security specialist who is then forced into robbing his own bank which is the only thing that is protecting his family as a ransom. He is then forced into capturing the true kidnapper and hence the suspense unfolds. This is not only a great rental but one to own and add to the Harrison collection.

Love songs such as “I Knew I Loved You” by the duet Savage Garden has the soft sounds similar to Air Supply from the 70’s and the lyrics from these hits are worth remembering for many years to come. The list will give a good cross section of today’s love songs and those from decades ago. It also boasts different genres of music from country to pop to even rock including Aerosmith.

Amazed-Lonestar

When viewers see the CD cover for Lonestar they may think of a teen idol pop band similar to Nsync or the Backstreet Boys. However the bands name can easily remind one of a country & western group and the hit song Amazed actually sounds more like country. The only thing these artists are missing, without stereotyping too much, are cowboy hats and dinner plate belt buckles.

I Knew I Loved You-Savage Garden

The young male duo Savage Garden and their 1999 hit is definitely a slow dance song that is most likely played at every wedding, high school and grade school dance and possibly even cruise ship ballroom. They are definitely not the Simon & Garfunkl of the 1990’s but their soft sounds and melody of this hit is definitely worth listening to and is one of those easy to listen to songs that can be enjoyed at the office or even elevator.

Don’t Want to Miss a Thing-Aerosmith

One of the softer songs by Aerosmith and the CD album cover is definitely their style, this love song is done live on this CD. It is difficult to hear the live background versus the studio version but it is one of the better love songs of recent years, especially by a more well-known rock band that is more at home with upbeat electric guitar and the familiar sounds of Steve Tyler. It just goes to show that even rock bands can be diverse in their music.

Unchained Melody-The Righteous Brothers

Of course the famous song Unchained Melody re-gained popularity from the 1990 hit movie “Ghost” with Demi Moore and Patrick Swazey, the CD album cover displays the Righteous Brothers in their vintage 1960’s drab and clean cut look. In the research, there was not just information on climate such as what to pack for clothing but the many cultural and historical sites to explore in exotic locations. It adds to the activities for your trip instead of just baking your newly-wed self on the beach. Though the tropics are the more popular choice, we found many affordable travel packages to Italy, France and even Mexico. Surprisingly Disney World was not on our list of honeymoon destinations but Mauritius was. Mauritius is probably the most remote corner of Earth and was still on our list of destinations with affordable rates.

Hawaii

Hawaii is not only the only state that is actually an island but it is a tropical paradise where honeymooners can appreciate the exotic geography, amazing climate and still be able to not go souvenir shopping with a cheat sheet to help with the language barrier that one may encounter in another locale. Hawaii is relatively inexpensive and it is very near the equator so the climate is going to always be phenomenal. Hawaii also contains not only the steamy tropical rain forest but one can also explore cooler retreats such as smoking volcanoes like Mauna Loa, where snow may remain for several months a year.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a land of tropical beaches and rain forest to further entice honeymooners of all ages to explore its beauty. One of the advantages of traveling to Costa Rica is that it is very close to the United States and much of the country is Americanized. There are many other familiar American past times such as McDonalds and other icons. Costa Rica is also where you will see many species of tropical wildlife such as leopards where you might otherwise assume they are only in the Amazon.

Tanzania

Fiji

There are many attractions offered for a honeymoon or even just a long weekend in Mexico. Heck, you can even drive there provided your vehicle has the ability to go long distances. Even still, travel agencies seem to always have excellent package deals to make your honeymoon complete to Mexico.

France

France is definitely among the top destinations for a romantic honeymoon or just a European vacation. Honeymooners can either spend the entire trip in Paris, touring the many attractions and restaurants in the city itself or make a wine tour trip or visit to the Alps instead. It is definitely a country with a wide array of attractions.

Mauritius

Though there are still many people, including honeymooners that have never heard of Mauritius before, it is in one of the most remote corners of Earth off the coast of Madagascar. It may be among the least likely places for the average honeymooner to want to visit. However the countries tropical climate, diverse culture and the fact the majority speaks French and English helps to make it an excellent destination.
